Our New Kittens

We got our first cat about a year and half ago.  Her name was Tinkerbell.  We wanted her to have a friend so we got a 6wk old kitten shortly after.  My girls are Daddy's girls.  Whatever Daddy likes, they like.  Well...Daddy likes Star Wars.  The girls decided that the new kitten needed to be named Padmae from Star Wars.  Tinkerbell suffered from seizures and died earlier this year.  Lulu was very attached to her and took it really hard.  We decided to get her another kitten.  When we went to look, we found one 9wk old kitten...and her brother.  Needless to say I was easy to convince.  So now, we have Padmae, Queen Amidala and Anakin.
At least now all their names go together!

Small house...five people

When we bought our house eight years ago we were pregnant with our first child and only planned to live here for two or three years.  Well...eight years and two more children later we are still here.  School materials have overrun our house.  Almost more so than toys.  Most of our friends and family keep saying you need a bigger house.  Yes, we do.  However, we went through Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace a few years ago and have a totally different outlook on money and spending.  (This is an excellent program by the way. DH and I highly recommend www.daveramsey.com for everyone, whether you have tons of debt or no debt at all.)  So right now, we cannot move.  Our solution to this problem is to put all three girls in one bedroom.  My dh built bunkbeds a couple years ago before Lil was born.  So Lulu sleeps in the top bed and Monkey and Lil are sharing the bottom bed.  So far, so good.  Praise the Lord!

We turned the second small bedroom into our school room.  Now all school materials are in one room and the kitchen can look like a kitchen, my bedroom can look like my bedroom and the living room can look like a living room.  We are excited about the progress so far.  We still have lots of work to do getting the rest of the house back in order, but the school room and the girls' bedroom look good.

Welcome!

I am excited to begin this blogging journey with all of you.  Our family has been homeschooling for three years now.  The Lord has blessed my DH and I with three beautiful daughters.  Lulu is seven, Monkey is five and Lil is two.  Our house is very loud, very active and very dramatic!  But I would not change that for anything.  I feel so blessed that God entrusted me with my girls.  Our school name is Potter's Hand Academy.  We need to place our lives in the Potter's hands daily so that He can mold us into the shape He desires.  So many times I want to be the clay and the potter.

I hope to use this blog to let some of our distant (and not-so-distant) relatives and friends see what our school is like and what we do all day.  You know those famous questions, "So what do you do?  How do you have school at home?"   My DH and I are simply following the call of God on our lives at this moment.  Our girls are far too precious to allow someone else to mold them.  I have told people before if my girls learn nothing else but that Jesus died to set them free from their sins, my DH and I will have been successfu!
